Salam Gembira is a feature film about a Singaporean boy who lives with a Dutch girlfriend. When his family from Singapore suddenly comes over, he tries to conceal the fact that he is living together by temporarily exchanging his girlfriend for her brother. It becomes a wonderful farce in which faith, culture and inclusivity ultimately lead to fraternization. I was allowed to play the father of the Dutch family, where I initially find it difficult to deal with my son's homosexuality, but eventually I participate in the Gay Pride in Rotterdam.
